A very important enclave for the history of our province, since it has had settlements since prehistory, and it is located on the limits of the influence of the mythical Tartessus and had later contacts with Phoenicians, Carhaginians and Romans.

With Rome, there came the arrival of its greatest increase and working of its agricultural richness which managed to maintain itself in spite of the changes that it suffered with the different cultures that arrived, Visigothics and Muslims. Conquered by the Christians towards 1250, it was repopulated under the reign of Alfonso X. The settling of new inhabitants was continually favoured until it achieved the Charter of Privileges, granted by the Duke of Medina Sidonia in 1494, for the repopulation of Trebujena. However, centuries after the ownership of the lands had belonged to the Dukes of Medina Sidonia, it caused numerous conflicts and disputes between the neighbours and the Dukes.

Its fertile lands, cultivated with vineyards, cereals and olive trees provide it with excellent wines and oils, which have always been the main wealth of the village.
