Zahara has good sports facilities and a swimming pool. In its surroundings, the visit to Puerto de Las Palomas is worth doing, an ideal place for hang gliding; the banks of Arroyo-Molino and Bocleone; and the Green Gorge, with a descent of over 250 meters which takes you to the cave of the Gorge Chapel, with stalactites and stalagmites. Area of spectacular beauty, where you can observe a great number of birds (some in danger of extinction) in full contact with nature, a fact which makes its visit even more attractive and interesting. The tawny vultures abound in the region of Zahara, thus it is the European area with the greatest concentration of this species. From Zahara you can make excursions on horseback through the fir tree forest and all over the area of the Natural Park. Zahara holds the National Award of Beautification and Improvement. |
